3. Indexed Universal Life is life insurance, not an investment

Indexed Universal Life (IUL) is a life insurance product. It is not a security, a bank account or a deposit, and it does not directly participate in any stock or equity investments. Index-linked interest crediting is subject to caps, participation rates, spreads and policy charges, which vary by carrier and product and may change within the limits of the contract.

Illustrations show guaranteed and non-guaranteed (projected) values. Non-guaranteed values are hypothetical, are not guarantees of future performance and may be more or less favorable than shown. Your actual results will depend on the carrier's crediting, charges and how you fund and use the policy.

5. Policy loans and withdrawals

Policy loans and withdrawals reduce the cash value and death benefit, accrue interest and may cause the policy to lapse. A lapse or surrender with a loan outstanding may create a tax liability. Tax treatment depends on current law, which may change, and on the policy remaining in force and not becoming a Modified Endowment Contract.
